There should be a rule that every dog owner has to take their pooch to Cornwall at least once. With beaches so beautiful you don’t even need a filter for your photos, and a laidback lifestyle that means pets are welcome here there and everywhere, pet friendly holidays in Cornwall have got it all. Days in the county are all about wandering Poldark’s footsteps, discovering beaches that look like film sets, and washing it all down in the local pubs and eateries.

Pet friendly Cornwall beaches

Any pet friendly Cornwall holiday has got to start on the beach, and we’ll start with the most famous…Fistral.  World-famous for its surf, and as gorgeous as they come, this huge sandy beach is dog friendly – hurrah. Around 3 miles from Newquay, you’ll find Watergate Bay, which is also home to a dog friendly beach, so if you’re keen to watch the surfers do their thing while you spend time with your pet – this is the place to do it.

If you’re happy to explore the art scene down at St Ives, in the west of the county, Carbis Bay is one of the most beautiful pet friendly Cornwall beaches. The bay’s home to a ribbon of golden sandy beaches, and it’s one of those spots that could have been made to grace postcards.

Pet friendly Cornwall walks

If you’re hoping to follow in Poldark’s footsteps during your time in his stomping ground, then there’s no reason you can’t cunningly plan some pet friendly Cornwall walks that take in the landscape from the series. If you head up to the windswept clifftops of Chapel Porth, you’ll be treated to some of Cornwall’s most unspoilt scenery.

Now a World Heritage Site, thanks to its place in the county’s mining past, this area’s home to a network of pathways that make it easy to wander this once thriving industrial landscape. Just remember, always keep your dog a safe distance from the cliff edges.

Pet friendly places to eat and drink in Cornwall

It’s easy to see why Cornwall’s always been a favourite with foodies. All that local produce and yummy seafood served up in big hearty portions to keep your energy up for those adventures…sounds perfect. To be honest, you’ll find more pet friendly places to eat in the county than you can shake a stick at, but here are a few of our faves. The Falmouth Bay Seafood Café in Truro welcomes pets, and it held a Taste of the West Gold Award in 2014 and 2015.

Then there’s Mowhay’s Restaurant at Healey’s Cyder Farm in the north of the county…and this friendly barn restaurant and courtyard welcomes pets along too. Over in Holywell Bay (near Newquay) Offshore Bistro welcomes dogs on its terrace, and what a place to enjoy the views over tapas. Or, for something different, head to The Jamaica Inn on Bodmin Moor. This is the very inn that inspired the creepy novel by the same name, and pets are welcome.

Pet friendly days out in Cornwall

A visit to Cornwall’s always one big adventure, and there are some pet friendly days out in Cornwall that you’ll never forget. Days like a visit to the Minack Theatre for example. Open air and carved into the face of a cliff overlooking Porthcurno Beach, this world-famous theatre has got to be one of the UK’s most recognisable landmarks, and doggies are welcome. If you fancy going wild for a day, head to Adrenalin Quarry. Now, we’re not saying your dog can join you on the zipwire as you glide your way above the quarry, but if you have someone with you to look after him while you play, he can enjoy the setting during your day out.
